Image Renaming is a FreeWare
Image Renaming program allows the user to rename his jpeg file name based on different date and time criteria.
Image Renaming program allows the user to add into the jpeg file a date and time based on different criteria.
Image Renaming program allows the user to rename his jpeg based on the index.

.NET Framework 2.0 is required to make this program run

How does it work ?

Select a number of jpeg file that you want to modify. The selection can be done by different ways :
- Drag and Drop into the program
- Select in the menu : File → Add File
- Select in the menu : File → Add Directory. This option will do a recursive search in all the subfolder for a jpeg file
Now that you select the file that you want to work on. You can do one of the three options :

Why this program can be usefull ?

If you are having one of those 2 problem :

I had the problem with my digital picture, they were all named as img1.jpg, img2.jpg ... and every time I copy those file to my computer the index will start again with img1.jpg, img2.jpg. So I can not copy all my picture in the same folder.
Every time I try to do a Video CD with my picture, all the file were sorted in alphabetical order. In that case img10.jpg will come before img2.jpg and that was unacceptable. Because the VCD slide show will not show the picture in the right order as they were taken.

So to resolve those 2 problems, I needed a program that will rename my picture based on the date and time of the picture taken or created. And then the date and time should be in the format of YYYY-MM-DD HH-MM-SS, so when the sorting is done in alphabetical order, the proper order is preserved.

Check Update ? (Preview)

The program contain a check for update option. When the user select menu : About → Check for update
the program will automatically connect to the web site and verify if a new version is available.

Add date into Image : (Preview)

This option will add the date and time with the specified format at the selected position in the image itself.
You can choose the date and time Font Properties. All new created files will start with the file prefix that was selected

Add custom text into Image : (Preview1, Preview2)

This option will add the entered custom text at the selected position in the image itself.
You can choose the custom text Font Properties. All new created files will start with the file prefix that was selected

Add date to file name :

File Prefix :

Font Properties : (Preview)

This allows the user to choose which Font and all its properties that will be drawn at the selected position of the image.

Date Time Format : (Preview)

This allows the user to choose the date time format, from three predefined format : Long, Compact, Short and Custom. which Font and all its properties that will be drawn at the bottom right corner of the image. The custom mode is dedicated for advanced user, were you have to enter manually the specify key that represent each part of the date-time format. The custom format is very powerful if you know what you are doing and if you don't it can be very useless. I strongly recommend all the user to stick with predefined 3 mode.

Select Position : (Preview)

This allows the user to choose were the date-time or the custom text will be drawn in the image. The user can choose one of the 9 predefined position : TopLeft, TopCenter, TopRight, LeftCenter, Center, CenterRight, BottomLeft, BottomCenter, BottomRight. This can become very interesting, when you want to add a custom text on the top left corner and the date-time on the bottomright.

Date and Time Criteria : (Preview)

The date and time criteria gives the user the option of choosing which date and time to be used by the program.
There are 4 date and time that can be used

Original Picture Taken : This information is stored inside the jpeg file itself. Most of the recent digital camera store the date and time when the picture was taken.
File Created : This is the file information about when it was created.
File Last Accessed : This is the file information about when it was last accessed for read.
File Last Modified : This is the file information about when it was last written or modified

The program logic is based on a first and second options. In the menu Option → Date First Option, and Option → Date Second Option. The user can choose which date and time to use as a first option. If that information were not found, the program would try to use the user's selection under Second Option.
